Mikołaj Zieleński Rediscovered: Wrocław Baroque Ensemble Live in London

Under the direction of Andrzej Kosendiak, the ensemble will perform at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London on 14 August, followed by a second concert at the Edinburgh International Festival on 16 August.
At the heart of the programme is music by Mikołaj Zieleński, a largely forgotten but remarkable Polish composer from the early 17th century. His works, published in 1611, are filled with rich vocal writing, expressive choral textures, and vibrant instrumental colour. Many of these pieces will be receiving their UK premiere—possibly their first performance here ever.
The concert will also feature Vivaldi’s beloved Gloria, one of the most iconic and joyful works of the Baroque choral tradition.
As director of the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, Andrzej Kosendiak is one of Poland’s leading champions of early music. He has received multiple accolades for his work in preserving and promoting the country’s musical heritage, including the 2023 Fryderyk Award for Early Music Album of the Year.
This is a unique opportunity to discover the beauty of Poland’s Renaissance and Baroque repertoire in the hands of one of its most passionate interpreters.
