Premier League secures record £5 billion TV rights deal
The Premier League has announced a 70% increase in the value of its British television rights for the 2016-19 seasons with Sky and BT paying a combined £5.136 billion to show games.

Pięć pakietów nabyła grupa płatnej telewizji Sky, a dwa - firma telekomunikacyjna BT. Dotychczasowa trzyletnia umowa (2013-2016) kosztowała w 2012 roku Sky i BT 3,018 miliarda funtów.
Obecnie obie firmy kupiły prawa telewizyjne za ponad 5,1 mld funtów (6,9 mld euro), co jest rekordową kwotą w Premier League. Platforma Sky zapłaci 4,2 mld funtów, a BT - niespełna miliard (960 milionów funtów).
Pięć z siedmiu pakietów należy do Sky, która nabyła m.in. prawa do cieszących się wielką popularnością transmisji meczów rozgrywanych w niedzielne popołudnie.
Angielska ekstraklasa organizuje jeszcze przetarg dla nadawców zagranicznych.
