Cologne Cathedral and the Rhine bridges will no longer be illuminated at night

The German city of Cologne wants to save more expensive electricity and for this purpose decided to switch off the lighting of representative buildings much earlier than before, including the famous cathedral and bridges on the Rhine - reports the website of the weekly 'Spiegel'.

Oświetlenie budowli takich jak m.in. katedra, zabytkowy ratusz, mosty Hohenzollernbruecke i Severinsbruecke ma być wyłączane o godz. 23:00, a jesienią o 22:00.
Podświetlenie katedry zostało wyłączone już poniedziałkowej nocy. Dotąd gotycka świątynia pozostawała oświetlona przez całą noc - wskazuje portal.
Z uwagi na konieczność oszczędzania energii z podświetlania nocą słynnych budowli, takich jak katedra, kolumna Zwycięstwa czy Kościół Pamięci, już wcześniej zrezygnował Berlin.
