British serviceperson is Falkland Islands' first case of COVID-19
A British serviceperson has become the first confirmed case of coronavirus in the Falkland Islands. The Falklands government said the patient was transferred from a UK military base on the territory to the only civilian hospital on Tuesday with 'a range of COVID-19 symptoms'.

Pacjent - pracownik brytyjskich sił zbrojnych - przebywa obecnie w szpitalu, a jego stan zdrowia określany jest jako stabilny i nie potrzebuje respiratora.
Pierwsze objawy Covid-19 miał 31 marca, a test na obecność koronawirusa dał wynik pozytywny.
Falklandy to brytyjskie terytorium zamorskie, do którego prawa rości sobie także Argentyna. W 1982 roku doszło między obydwoma krajami do krótkiego konfliktu zbrojnego o wyspy.
Obecnie stacjonuje tam ok. 1 300 personelu militarnego.
