Manchester United are looking at ways to invest in Old Trafford to turn the iconic stadium into a 'world-class' venue once again and bring it up to modern standards. The club unveiled new disabled facilities last week that have been hailed as amongst the best in the world, with the £11million investment welcomed by the club's disabled supporters' association (MUDSA).

Latem tego roku United wydali w sumie 20 milionów funtów na remonty i modernizacje, z wymianą murawy i montażem nowych ogrodzeń na czele. Odnowiono również fasadę obiektu.

Zbudowany w 1909 roku i rozbudowany w 2006 roku Old Trafford pod względem funkcjonalności pozostał nieco w tyle za powstałymi niedawno stadionami Arsenalu, Manchesteru City, Tottenhamu Hotspur czy główną areną igrzysk olimpijskich 2012, na którą przeniósł się West Ham United.

Niedawno Gary Neville, były piłkarz, uchodzący za klubową legendę, przyznał, że chociaż Old Trafford w telewizji wygląda dobrze, to w rzeczywistości jest przestarzały i "zardzewiały".
