Australia: Record six days in a row with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius
Perth, the state capital of Western Australia, saw a record sixth day yesterday with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The city has reached such high temperatures 11 times during the ongoing southern hemisphere summer, breaking its consecutive seven-day record set in the 2015-16 season, the British daily Guardian reported.

Luke Huntington z biura meteorologicznego stanu Australia Zachodnia zwrócił uwagę na to, że ostatnie dni były "wyjątkowe gorąca na obszarze całego zachodniego wybrzeża". Dodał, że dzisiaj w Perth oczekuje się spadku temperatury do 33 stopni Celsjusza.
"Fale upałów w Perth są zwykle spowodowane przez upały, które tworzą się wzdłuż zachodniego wybrzeża" - wyjaśnił Huntington.
W ubiegłym tygodniu w mieście Onslow na zachodzie kraju odnotowano 50,7 stopni Celsjusza - temperaturę najwyższą w historii Australii.
